St. Vincent DePaul/Holy Cross Conference

The Indianapolis St. Vincent de Paul Society’s Changing Lives program will be graduating 6 participants soon and all have requested a mentor to “walk with them” as they strive to meet their goals of self-sufficiency. Examples of goals they hope to achieve are: employment, losing weight, spiritual growth, book publishing, real estate management, and debt reduction.

We are partnering with Trusted Mentors, an organization that will train and support volunteers who want to become mentors. Trusted Mentor’s will hold their next two-part training session in October, on Wednesday October 10th (Part A) and 17th (Part B) in the evening from 6:15 to 8:15pm.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor or want to know more about the program, please contact Sharon Teal @ 352-0740 or email steal@indy.rr.com.

For Greater Glory

Sometimes we think persecution and martyrdom for our faith is something from the early history of the church.  Last week I went to see the movie, now showing, “FOR GREATER GLORY.” It tells the story of the Mexican government’s violent attempt to suppress the Catholic faith in Mexico.  This oppression began the Cristero War, in which ordinary people rose up to witness to their faith and died in the process.  It’s an inspiring move; I highly recommend it. – fr. Catholics Come Home

You may have noticed the TV spots recently aired about the Catholic Church. They are being used nationwide to invite those who have left the Church to return. Your invitation can be the instrument of God’s grace. You may be the messenger who invites another to “come back.” Go to http://catholicscomehome.org and see how.
