Rite of Christian Initiation RCIA offers an opportunity for non-Catholic and Catholic adults to learn more about the Catholic faith through year-round Inquiry sessions. These sessions offer information about what it means to be a member of the Catholic Church as well as camaraderie and are held in the Parish Center on the first and third Thursdays of the month. Newcomers and visitors are welcome at any time. Fully initiated Catholics are encouraged to be companions and/or sponsors to those attending RCIA. Scripture Study/Faith Sharing Opportunities for weekday Scripture Study programs are offered periodically throughout the year. Also, on the first Sunday of each month and all Sundays during Advent and Lent, adults may gather before Mass in the Parish Center to read and reflect on the Sunday Scripture readings. Adult Days/Evenings of Reflection Reflection days are scheduled throughout the year to give people an opportunity to explore a particular spiritual theme. On Wednesday evenings during Lent, adults gather for a soup supper and presentation, followed by a period of reflection and discussion. Liturgy of the Word for Children All Pre-K—6th grade children are welcome to gather in the Parish Center during Sunday Mass for small group Scripture readings and related discussion and activities appropriate for their age. Children are dismissed during Mass after the Opening Prayer and return to the church after the Offertory. The program is offered August through May. Youth Ministry Fun Fridays for Teens meets the first Friday of each month and provides teenagers of Holy Cross with opportunities to build relationships based on Catholic values. The group participates in social and sports events, while also taking part in guided Scripture reflection relevant to the life of a teen. Volunteer leaders in all programs comply with all Archdiocesan application requirements. |
