LITURGY COMMISSION

The Liturgy Commission is made up of the coordinators of the various liturgical ministries listed below plus a few members in general. The pastor is also a member of this commission. This commission discerns themes and plans liturgies for the liturgical seasons of the year (for example, Christmas and Easter). One of our goals is to encourage the full and active participation of the congregation in the various liturgical celebrations. For more information about getting involved in any of these ministries, leave a message for Nancy McNiece at (317) 637-2620 ext. 407.

SACRISTAN

The responsibilities of a sacristan involve preparing the worship space for liturgy. A sacristan ensures that all liturgical items necessary are clean, in good supply, and ready for those who need them.

crossART AND ENVIRONMENT

The mission of the Art and Environment Ministry is to enhance the prayerful celebration of the church’s liturgies by providing and maintaining appropriate décor for the liturgical seasons of the year.

MUSIC

The Music Ministry is composed of a contemporary liturgical ensemble that provides uplifting and meditative music for parish liturgies.

LECTORS

The lectors provide the parish with an opportunity to hear the story of God’s journey with his people. Through the lectors’ recitation of the readings from Hebrew and Christian Scriptures during Mass, parishioners can hear and know God’s presence in their lives and the lives of those who went before.

HOSPITALITY

This ministry welcomes parishioners and guests to Holy Cross on Sunday mornings. It serves to insure that church bulletins and song sheets are distributed. Hospitality ministers take up the collection and present it along with the bread and wine to the priest. They also assure that holy water is available at the church entrances.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

Members of this ministry assist the priest when there are many communicants. The communion ministers help at Mass in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ.

ALTAR SERVERS

Boys, girls, and adults are recruited, trained, and scheduled for service as altar servers. This role provides an excellent opportunity for young people as well as adults to participate in the Mass.
